Who should I leave my inheritance to?

If you’re in a vanilla, nuclear family, you may wish to nominate your partner to receive your whole estate in the first instance, and your kids to receive your estate equally in the second instance.

If you’re flying solo, you will need to nominate who you wish to inherit your estate in the first instance, and if there’s more than one person, you need to advise the split, for example, if you wish to leave your estate to 3 people, please advise if they’re to receive 1/3 each, or if its some other % split. If the intended beneficiary is a minor, you will need to stipulate when you wish for them to receive their inheritance, for example, at 18, 21 or 25. If the beneficiary is under a legal disability, and needs someone to manage their inheritance on their behalf, please also make a note of this, and the person you trust to manage their inheritance.

You will have an opportunity in the next section to make specific gifts, for example, jewellery, motor vehicles, boats, artwork, particular bank accounts or certain real estate.
